Maraetai Beach School is a full primary school (Years 1–8, ages 5–13, 470 students) located in a beautiful coastal community on the southeast coast of Auckland. With fewer than 500 students, we provide a safe, welcoming, and learner-focused environment where children thrive.
Our school has a proud history, being established in 1880 on the Pōhutukawaa* Coast. Our school is surrounded by stunning beaches, scenic walkways, and lush regional parks. This peaceful yet vibrant setting offers the perfect balance of nature, safety, and outdoor adventure—capturing the essence of New Zealand: green, clean, and full of life.
Despite its tranquil atmosphere, our community is well-connected. The nearby Pine Harbour Marina provides daily ferry services to Auckland City and Waiheke Island, while local shops, cafés, and recreational facilities offer everything families need.
*Pōhutukawa is New Zealand's Christmas tree, as its vivid red flowers bloom in December. It holds a prominent place in Māori mythology and grows in many places along our coastline.
