International Student Programme

Since 2016, Maraetai Beach School has welcomed international students and their families from all around the globe, hosting both groups and individual students from Europe, Asia, North America, South America, and Africa.

Our International Student Programme is more than just an opportunity to study abroad—it’s a gateway to global learning and meaningful connections.

We are a learning community that provides an exciting and challenging curriculum designed to extend all children’s horizons in a secure, safe, and learner-focused environment. With strong parent and community involvement, we highly value these partnerships and the rich contribution international students bring to our school. Our students are a very special group—friendly, confident, and strongly motivated to learn.

Welcoming international students is a two-way exchange, where all children benefit. Our local students form friendships with peers from different cultures, gaining new perspectives and broadening their own horizons. Through shared experiences, they develop cultural awareness, empathy, and a deeper understanding of the world.

We ensure that all international students receive the support they need to fully participate in school life, creating an environment where everyone learns, grows, and connects. Together, we build a foundation for a more inclusive and globally minded community.

Our Vision and Programme

The school’s vision, Our Way - People, Potential, Planet sets the strategic direction for our school.

This vision is underpinned by the four values of To Tatou Ara:

  • Manawaroa (Resilience) – Encouraging students to persevere and overcome challenges.

  • Whakaute (Respect) – Fostering a culture of kindness and understanding.

  • Rawe (Excellence) – Striving for the highest personal and academic standards.

  • Ngākau Tapatahi (Integrity) – Encouraging honesty and responsibility in all we do.
