At Maraetai Beach School we have an exciting and engaging integrated school curriculum. We have high expectations of all our learners.
Literacy and Numeracy are the cornerstones of our curriculum. Science, Technology, Languages and the Arts all play a key role in providing an exciting and engaging school curriculum. We have strong links to the local community and the outdoors which provide our students with authentic learning experiences. Sports and Cultural groups are highly valued.
Curriculum Delivery Time Allocation:
At Maraetai Beach School, the following time allocations have been set. It is understood that because of extenuating circumstances, special events etc, this will at times, necessitate variation.
Available hours = 23 Hours 45 mins per week
Minimum Hours:
Literacy 10 hours per week (includes Listening, Reading, Viewing, Speaking, Writing and Presenting)
Mathematics 5 hours per week
Integrated Inquiry 4 hours 30 min per week (Science, Social Sciences, Technology). This may be integrated into other curriculum areas such as reading, writing and the arts.
The Arts 1 hour 30 mins per week
Health & PE 1 hour 45 min per week
Assembly 1 hr (music or whole school) per week
