Dear Parents/Caregivers
The return to school has gone very smoothly. It is fantastic to have both staff and students back on site. The students have settled back into routines very well and are all following the health and safety guidelines we have in place. They are enjoying being back in class with their teacher and friends. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire staff who have done an amazing job of welcoming our students back and making them feel safe and secure at school! A huge thank you also to all the parents/caregivers who prepared the children so well for their return. A great community effort!
As you know, the Prime Minister has confirmed that all of New Zealand will move to the COVID-19 Protection Framework (CPF) at 11.59pm on Thursday 2 December. The Ministry of Education has indicated that guidance is being developed for the education sector on exactly what is expected of schools under the new framework however we have been informed that schools in Auckland will remain at Alert Level 3, Step 2 for the remainder of the year and Auckland schools will then move to the CPF from 1 January 2022. This means that the current school health and safety measures as well as current school organisation will not change and every student will continue to have 2 days onsite and 3 days learning from home until the end of the year. When students are off-site, distance learning programmes will continue. Please note that on the days staff are physically at school they will not be responding online to students. Hard packs will still be made available to all families in Year 1-4.
We fully understand that arrangements for some families may change once Auckland moves into the CPF. For those of you with no other option, we will continue to provide a full time bubble of students. Due to the requirement to keep to stable groups all students who are in this full time bubble will not have an option to return into their classroom or play with classmates. All students will continue to take part in their class distance learning onsite. If you need to discuss this option please contact Mr Harper-Travers. We do want to continue to limit the amount of children in this bubble. Please note that the final day for the school bubble is Thursday 16th December.
Our school prizegiving will be held online at 11:30am on Tuesday December 14 via our school facebook page and will also be available on our website. We look forward to celebrating the many achievements of our students and hope that you can join us.
