2019 Board of Trustees Election

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Elections for parents to join the school Board of Trustees are held every three years and are set down to take place this term. Maraetai Beach School has 5 parent representative positions to fill on the school board.
The Board of Trustees is involved in a Stewardship role and with the Principal sets the strategic direction for the school. The responsibilities of the board include:

  • Strategic Planning, Goal Setting and Review

  • Reporting on educational achievement

  • Health and Safety

  • Financial management

  • Property management

  • Ensuring that the high expectations that our community seek are maintained and delivered by the school year on year.

Being on the Board provides a fantastic opportunity to be involved and a part of your child's education at Maraetai Beach School. I encourage all Maraetai Beach School parents to consider this opportunity. The board meets once a month for 11 meetings each year (no meeting in January.) At Maraetai Beach School, it is recognised that effective goal setting is a vital part of the teaching and learning process.

While goals can be utilised within and across all curriculum and extra-curricular areas, they have an extremely important role in directing learning, and reporting progress, in Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
